On October 1st,2015 (local time in New York, US), Kumho Petrochemical (Chairman & CEOChan-Koo Park) was bestowed the Grand Prize for the “Best of Korea” at theAnnual Report Competition Awards honoring excellence in 2014 annual reports.
Kumho Petrochemical hasissued the annual reports since 2004 to provide overseas clients and investorswith accurate business information. This company first participated in the ARCAwards in 2008 to verify fairness and corporate credibility, and received the GrandPrize in the category of “Best of Written Text” in 2012. In the 2014 AnnualReport under the theme of “Aiming Higher,” it highlighted bold steps that covereddiverse topics from leadership in the synthetic rubber sector to new materialssuch as carbon nanotubes. Mecayours Corporation was in charge of planning anddesigning the said annual report.
The “Best of Korea”Grand Prize awarded to Kumho Petrochemical is granted to Korea’s best annualreport through comprehensive evaluation in terms of creativity, clarity,effectiveness, excellence, and many other factors. In addition to contentevaluation, such as design, the ARC Awards selects the best annual reports bynation, targeting ten countries including the US, Germany, and Japan. Previous“Best of Korea” winners in Korea include NHN, SK Telecom, and Lotte Shopping.
Kumho Petrochemicalofficials stated, “As 70% of sales comes from abroad, we strive to providesimple but well-defined business information through the annual report,” and addedthat “Despite the growing uncertainty of the market, we will strengthencommunication with our clients and investors from around the world.”
With its foundation in 1987, the ARC Awards is designed to selectoutstanding annual reports for the purpose of enhancing communication. Inaddition, it is acknowledged as a major international annual report competitionalong with the Vision Awards. Its world-class prestige is demonstrated by thefact that more than 2,000 entries from 35 countries are submitted to thecompetition on a yearly basis. The 2015 ARC Awards ceremony was held at theTrump SoHo Hotel in New York, US.
