Introduction
With changes in awareness on the social roles of corporations, Kumho Petrochemical’s social-contribution activities have transformed from passive giving and merely providing material goods
to playing active roles as well as doing win-win participations and sharing.
Regular social-contribution activities (support for social welfare facilities through Hugreen’s window systems; support for severely disabled, such as those who
are visually impaired with their needs for assistive devices; and year-end donations), supervised by CEO, are planned and carried out.
The supports for the volunteers, systematic management, and awards for the volunteers have been
institutionalized to encourage voluntary involvements in social service of company executives and staff members.
Main activities
Support for the visually impaired with needs for assistive devices
We have been supplying more than 1,000 white canes every year. In addition,
we manufacture and supply yellow braille blocks and braille readers to schools for blind and other similar institutions across the country.
Donation through Matching Grant of small changes from employees’ wages
We implement Matching Grant of small changes from executives and staff members’ wages (amount less than \1,000) as well as donations of specific amounts and we donate the total sum to underprivileged.
Voluntary works done by executives and staff members
We actively encourage our executives and staff members to do voluntary works on their own in partnership with social welfare agencies,
in addition to the activities in which they participate through the company. Through the support and systematic management for voluntary works,
our executives and staff members are voluntarily participating in various voluntary works, such as delivering lunches to senior citizens living
alone and providing them with mobile bath services, supporting the disabled with their outreach programs,
providing free meals to homeless and senior citizens living alone as well as temporary shelters for infants and nurseries, delivering charcoals for home heating, and many others.
Blood Donation Campaign
We participate in group blood donation, at least once a year, at all business units.
In order to help children who need blood, such as children who are Leukemia patients. We also donate the blood donation certificates collected to related organizations.
Support for rural villages by twinning a company and a village
We are trying to contribute to the invigoration of farming villages’ economies through supports for direct purchase of farmed goods during traditional holiday seasons,
such as Lunar New Year’s Day and Thanksgiving Day. In addition, we promote active exchanges with the villages through supports for parents’ day festivals,
voluntarily giving them helping hands during farming seasons, etc.
Training talented students by twinning a company and a school
We are making efforts to train talented students by twinning a company and a school, giving out scholarships, and providing financial aids, too.
Environmental cleanup activities by twinning a company and
a mountain / a company and a stream
We are engaged in various activities to clean our environment and to achieve a green world where humans and nature coexist: regular
cleanup activities of Mt. Munsu / Sanho Island and release of young fish at the coasts Yeosu city.
